Who is Nathan Spence?
As a child, I was constantly drawing—dinosaurs, video game characters, and even designing my own board games. Creating and problem-solving has always been my passion, and I’ve never grown out of it.
I studied Fine Art in the early 2000s, then moved into Graphic Media and finally Graphic Design at University. My dream was always to work in the music and entertainment industry, which led me to an internship at the London-based studio Stylorouge, under the guidance of creative director Rob O’Connor.
At Stylorouge, I gained invaluable experience working with a talented team. This opened the door to Mainartery, where I collaborated with Jo Mirowski to design covers and posters for Repertoire Records and SPV Records.
After two years in London, I moved to Essex to join Phelan Barker , a branding-focused studio. It was here that my illustrative design skills were put to use on logos, websites, and publications. I particularly loved working with start-ups, as it allowed me to craft entire brand identities from scratch.
In 2013, I took a year off to travel, which led to two years in South Korea and eventually Vietnam, where I founded Nathan Spence Creative. Living abroad has enriched my design perspective, drawing inspiration from diverse cultures and experiences.
My personal work is heavily influenced by my love of film, music, BMX, zombies, and tattoos. These passions fuel my creativity, and when I’m not designing, you’ll find me curating mixtapes on Spotify.
